The little corner that could

If I am walking to Plaine's to get a bike part, or to visit my friend working on South Street, I usually have to turn the corner at South Street and West Housatonic Street. There to greet me is Frankenstein's light post, which I can only assume got to its present state because of truck traffic trying to turn right around a corner that was not equipped to handle it. (Not shown in the photo is the traffic signal head which is missing two light covers.)

With the work beginning on the Center Street-West Housatonic Street intersection, it is also important to make sure the city reaffirms and emphasizes the proper truck route (Edit: with some new signage) through downtown, which is down West Street, with a left turn at the Center Street-West Street intersection, and then out to West Housatonic Street. I'm not a fan of any truck traffic downtown, but if they need to get through, then that is the most appropriate route.
